THE WORLD THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON THINKS
by J. Randal MathenyThe world this Christmas season thinks
Of three wise kings and Santa's sleigh,
Of weighted tables, foreign drinks,
And rest from work this holiday.They rush for the last-minute gift,
To check the list, by name and price,
To balance impulse splurge and thrift,
Forget who's haughty, naughty, or nice.Beyond the Yuletide's hurried crush,
Its blinking lights and tinseled noise,
Beneath the chilly winter slush,
Behind the packaged ties and toys,Runs love's strong stream and deeper veins
Of faith and joy, enduring past
The season's cards, eternal strains
That never tire the heart. What lastAre love's tender eyes, words of cheer,
Unfeigned hugs, the touch inspired.
Such gifts are cherished from year to year;
These are the gifts most desired.1. Share your thoughts with us! Click "Reply,"
