TIME FOR ETERNITY

Why another day to open my eyes,
To breathe at early morn a cooler air,
To place my feet upon the floor, arise
>From sleep, and wash the night from face and hair
And soul, to face another sun's surprise?
Why, indeed, if not to lift up praise
To God Almighty?! For zeal and faith to pursue
His will and presence, love and quiet displays
Of glory?! Another day to seek and renew
Deep trust in all of Heaven's work and ways?!
A precious gift from God, this day and hour,
That we exchange them for the everlasting!
In this exchange is purpose, life, and power,
A people who obey with prayer and fasting,
So at his coming we need not fear nor cower.
