Posted by: hopechestnews <hopechestnews@...>

Dear Hope Chest friends,

Here are two longer announcements for those who live in Florida.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Communicators for Christ Conference in Gainesville, Florida  -- November 29 - December 2
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My friends Denise Carr and Esther Day highly recommend the Communicators for Christ conference.

Denise writes:

Hi Friends!  I took my older two children to this conference when it was in Tallahassee this past August.  My girls were not excited about going to a speaking conference, but they enjoyed it so much they are now begging me to go back when it comes to Gainesville.  I hope you will consider taking your child to this - even if it means pulling them out of school for a couple of days.  Reluctant speakers are their specialty!  It is worth the time and the money.  If you have any questions about how it all works call me anytime 407-461-8857.  If you are interested in going to either the 2 day or 4 day class (we will be there all 4 days) then I have information on a group discount (it will take 10% off).  There is no group discount available for the one day class.  If you register early there is a discount available for all 3 classes (by Nov. 15).  Host housing in Gainesville is also available.  Blessings, Denise Carr

********************************************************************
Imagine. . . You're standing in front of a group. Someone asks you a question.  Ready?

Expressing yourself well is the key to success. Parenting experts recommend public speaking skills to help build confidence, but public speaking is one of the top fears of Americans today. In fact, in one survey, fear of public speaking ranked #1,over fear of heights, deep water, bugs – even death.

So if we're all so scared to communicate, how do we become good communicators?

The answer is simple: We learn – and practice – when we're young.

Who are we?

Communicators for Christ is a group of widely respected, Christian public speaking coaches headed by a talented family of four – David, Teresa, Wendell and Devin Moon. Assisted by award-winning student instructors, we're united by our enthusiasm to help Christian students learn to express themselves well in communities nationwide.

What people are saying about us:

"When I attended my first CFC conference, I knew within the first 20 minutes that my children could not be successful adults without these skills."   CFC Parent

"CFC helped me bring out skills that I never knew that I had."   Teen CFC participant

"Like so many parents, I drug my 9-year-old to CFC kicking and screaming. At the end of the conference, he gave me a hug and said, 'Mom, can we please come back?'"  CFC Parent

Communicators for Christ is coming to your area!  Don't miss out!

THE RELEVANCE OF GENESIS IN DEVELOPING A CHRISTIAN WORLDVIEW

CHEC - Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at 7:00 PM

Volusia County Baptist Church, 261 S. Orange Ave. in Orange City. By Bill Clifton of Science Partners

If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? Psalm 11:3

This seminar is designed for high school students through adults.

In today's culture, we live with the tension between two worldviews – one based on biblical authority and the other on secular humanism. In not-so-distant years, the evolutionary message was more inconspicuous. Today it is blatant in our schools, on television, in books and movies, in the newspapers, in local theme parks, in many churches, and basically at every turn. Evolution is assumed to be, and often stated as, "fact" by the majority of the secular world. Sadly, many Christians have been deceived by this philosophy. And worse than that – they don't even realize it!

Most of us have been affected by this war of worldviews. Our homes, schools, courts, and churches suffer from its undermining effects. In our lifetimes we have seen our society accept and even embrace things that would have horrified our parents and grandparents. How can we strengthen our own worldview and teach our children while we're being bombarded with the world' s message? The answer: with a correct understanding of biblical history and science. Our society is losing its once-prevalent Christian worldview and the foundations are crumbling. We must begin to rebuild the foundations of biblical authority in our homes by understanding that the Bible is more than a collection of moral stories to guide our lives. It is true history! And, when it speaks of science (biology, geology, astronomy, anthropology, etc.), it can be trusted. Many scientists past and present are strong creationists who believe that God created in six literal 24-hour days just like He said He did in Genesis.

But, can we really believe Genesis in our scientifically-advanced culture? What about the big bang or millions of years? Do you understand the implications of Christian compromise? Do you think it doesn't matter as long as we all just love Jesus? (Think about it – your kids will! If you can't believe Genesis, why should you believe John 3:16?) Have you been "evolutionized?" Do you need answers to defend your faith and share the Gospel in today's world? Do you need resources to help your family learn more about this important issue? Then join us on November 14 at Volusia County Baptist Church in Orange City at 7:00 PM. Creation Resources will be available for purchase.

This seminar for high school students through adults is free for participants. If you have any questions, please contact Bill or Merilee Clifton at 407-331-3427 or [email protected]. If you need to reach us on the evening of the event, please call our cell phone, 407-808-4458.
