uninstall problem

Posted by: a-poet <a-poet@...>

Group,
I have sucummbed to the fate of a MS user. Since installing the beta 5.5
version of the InternetExplorer, I have run into a string of nagging
incidents. I decided I would try to "repair" the Explorer, but it did not
help. My next thought is to uninstall it. Guess what? It would allow me
to. The check box is grayed out. So when I go to Start/Settings/Control
Panel/Add/Remove programs IE5.5 is there, but when selected I only have the
option to "repair" or a a component. I've tried them both without success.
When I try to install Explorer 5.1, it says there is a newer version already
installed.

Any thoughts on how I can manually removed this beast? Is there a "simple"
registry tool I can use to get Win98 not to see this explorer and install a
previous version? HELP....
