Update on baby Ben

Dear Hope Chest readers,You are really a special bunch! I've received dozens of sweet e-mails
today, with an almost unanimous reply -- keep nursing that baby! (And I
did!) Several of the moms (many of them nurses) also backed this up by
pasting in research excerpts and web links for me. Thanks for the
encouragement to do what my mommy instincts told me I needed to do
anyway.Ben's bili levels dropped nicely to 13 by early afternoon, and the doctor
predicts he'll be out of the bili lights tomorrow. He's actually been
quite happy in there, as well as more content now that he's getting a
fuller belly from the formula supplementation. He's also put on some
weight, which is an answer to prayer. The bili lights are really pretty cool. One part of it is a suitcase
like thing that opens up. The baby lies in the bottom, and the lights
shine from the top, with a cloth face protector that hangs down to shield
the eyes. The second part of it is called a Wallaby. It is a flexible
light panel that is sheathed in a soft translucent cover, and put UNDER
the baby. When you take baby out to feed or cuddle, the Wallaby goes
under him on your lap. Ben seems to like the "white noise" put out by
the machine that is attached to the Wallaby.Since I've had limited time each hour to hold the little guy, the bonding
moments have become even more precious, which I guess is a blessing in
disguise.Another answer to prayer is that my Grandpa Hess appears to be in great
health, and he's home from the hospital. Thanks for your prayers!
Blessings,
