update on girls and GED and our update

Posted by: marmali <marmali@...>

They are tired right now as they have to leave at 7:45 every morning and get home late afternoon if they don't stay for youth or have to babysit. This is a new schedule for them so it's tiring especially with having to drive 20 miles every day to get to the testing center.

Both did very well on the Reading pre-test so are scheduled to take the GED Reading Exam next Wednesday. They would have done it today, but they had to babysit from 7:30-12:30 this morning. They will be attending class this afternoon and then resume again Monday morning. Yesterday, they both passed the Social Studies pre-test so we can schedule it as soon as they are ready. Science should be next, then writing, and math will be last as that is where they needed the most practice and help. Both have improved their essay writing which is good as they have to write an essay for the writing exam. If they maintain the speed with which they have started, they should have no problem being done by the end of this year.

Dh, the boys, and I are working around here today. The boys just finished cleaning out the chicken coop. With our chickens gone, that's a job they shouldn't have to repeat for me. Still need to remove the board frame they were using for roosting and the nest boxes. We may store the kids' bicycles in there or dh's woodsplitter...not sure yet. Yesterday I cleaned out several drawers and cabinets AGAIN. They get sloppy with six of us using them every day! Once I am done with this email, I will tackle one of my kitchen pantries since it has become quite messy. Then, maybe I'll work on my bathroom cabinets. We'll go to town later to get a few things.

Weather has been nice here. We are still getting rain and storms some days with our highs mostly in the 70s. Dh was actually cold last night and this morning 🙂 In about six weeks well start using the woodstove daily. Tomatoes from my garden are delicious. I should have planted more veggies....maybe next year.

We intended to go to the lake tomorrow and Sunday, but with the rainy weather we're postponing our trip until September. Also, we want to attend the funeral tomorrow for a guy that graduated with me. He was killed last weekend in a 4-wheeler accident. I have known his family for 40 years. His brother and my brother were best friends as kids. His family is comforted that he is with the Lord. He leaves behind three daughters ages 16, 18, and 20. Such a reminder that we have no idea how much time we have left on this earth.

Hope your day is blessed and your weekend is wonderful!
Lisa NM
I hope your girls are settling in to the routine.  🙂
