Valentine's Day Unit Study, the upcoming Hope Chest issue, and other (hopefully) helpful web links from Virginia Knowles

Dear friends,
I'm planning out the February issue of the Hope Chest right now. This new issue will feature the Charlotte Mason approach to home education. If you would have any nifty ideas or favorite resources or web sites related to this, send them along as soon as possible!
Since this issue won't be out in time for Valentine's Day, I wanted to send along this links to some posts on my blog from last year: Valentine's Day Unit Study and Our Big Red Valentine Heart.
The Books & Beyond literature conference went quite well last month, with about 200 people attending this year. I presented sessions on The Bible as Literature and Read, Reflect & Repond on http://www.ContinueWellHomeSchool.blogspot.com. If you click the titles in the last sentence, you can listen to the audio, as well as see the handouts and related web links.
I also just posted a 3rd-5th Grade Math Skills Checklist on http://www.StartWellHomeSchool.blogspot.com, to follow up on the Math Skills Checklist for Preschool through 2nd Grade from last year. In addition, Cheryl Bastian written a post about her new on-the-go math lapbook curriculum, Taking Math on the Road, too!
Mardy Freeman came down from Gainesville to speak at the NearHim Home Educators monthly meeting last month. I tried recording, but the audio wasn't the best quality. It's still worth listening to, so you can find it at Wisdom from Mardy Freeman at http://www.ComeWearyMoms.blogspot.com. Mardy's web site is here: http://www.thefreemans.org. One of my favorite articles on her web site is Noun Loss, which I first read in the FPEA Almanac over a decade ago. I will be driving up to Gainesville on March 11 to speak at Mardy's home school moms' support group. If you live in the area, I'd love to see you there!
I've also been invited to do a podcast interview on mentoring with Karen Campbell of http://www.thatmom.com. We plan to recording later this month, and I'll let you know when it's online. I was delighted to see that she

Jacob will arrive sometime in late June! Congratulations, Mary and Ryan!
