Dear Hope Chest friends,After I sent out the November goodies, I realized that two links to my blogs were faulty. So, here is a comprehensive list of all of my blogs and web sites:
- www.VirginiaKnowles.com contains back issues of the Hope Chest e-magazine, as well as curriculum and organization links
- www.VirginiaKnowles.blogspot.com is my general interest blog, which occasionally mentions home schooling in the context of my own family
- www.KnowlesJuicePlus.com is my husband's Thad's side business, dedicated to health and wellness
- www.ComeWearyMoms.blogspot.com is a blog for women who need inspiration and refreshment, and only rarely mentions home schooling
- www.StartWellHomeSchool.blogspot.com is a blog for preschool and elementary home education that I write with my friend Cheryl Bastian, who just added a post on the Childhood of Famous Americans biography series
- www.ContinueWellHomeSchool.blogspot.com is my blog for middle school home education -- with new posts on medieval legends and sentence style variety
- www.FinishWellHomeSchool.blogspot.com is a blog for high school home education that I write with Cheryl Bastian and Meredith Curtis
While I'm at it, I want to alert you to three upcoming events -- one about health & wellness and two about home education -- in the Central Florida area. If you live in my area and you aren't already receiving my local announcements, just e-mail me and request to be put on my list!Tomorrow evening (Friday, November 20), Jack Medina, a dynamic nationally known speaker, will present a free health event called "The Winning Edge: Fueling the Body for Peak Performance." This seminar will be held at 7 PM at Westwood Church, 4412 N. Apopka-Vineland Road, Orlando, FL 32818.Jack Medina has been an award winning gymnastics coach, as well as a strength & conditioning consultant to professional sports teams. He is an active member of the American College of Sports Medicine, The National Strength & Conditioning Association, and a Certified Fitness Specialist by the Cooper Center in Dallas, Texas, one of the most prestigious in the world. This event is sponsored by JuicePlus, a company for which my husband Thad is a distributor. If you think you can come, please RSVP to me at
[email protected]. Please also let me know if you need childcare, which is available on site for a small fee. For more information on JuicePlus, visit our distributor web site at www.knowlesjuiceplus.comI am delighted to announce the 3rd annual Books & Beyond Literature Live seminar Friday evening, January 22 and all day Saturday, January 23. Keynote speakers are Bob and Tina Farewell (former owners of Lifetime Books & Gifts), Linda Werner (of Circle Christian School) and neurodevelopmental specialist Kay Ness (who evaluates clients in Orlando and Atlanta). There will also be four sessions of workshops, with at least six different selections per time slot. Besides literature, there are also workshops on Titus 2 mentoring, marriage, and math. I will be teaching workshops on "The Bible as Literature" and "Read, Reflect, Respond." There will be several vendors as well. Here are the links for the brochure, registration, and presenter bios. Cost is $10 per person or $15 per couple. On Thursday, January 21 (the day before Books & Beyond), my friend Mardy Freeman will be speaking about Christian character at the monthly meeting of NearHim Home Educators. The meeting will be held at 7 PM in Room 5108-5109 in the Children's Worship Wing of Northland at 530 Dogtrack Road in Longwood, Florida. Mardy lives all the way up in Gainesville, so this is a real treat. Mardy, an author and former FPEA director, is a very wise woman who has been a huge blessing to me personally!Blessings of love, joy, and peace!Virginia Knowles
