Volume pedal on my monitor

Posted by: rxdca <rxdca@...>

Have a question for the group... I use a 10" Yamaha powered monitor for
monitor the output of my PODxtl. A line from the POD goes to a DI, the
balanced out to the mixer and the parallel out to the monitor. Works pretty
good... EXCEPT... the volume on the monitor is fine when we are practicing,
but when we are in the service everything else drowns it out. So, I was
wondering... if I put a volume pedal between the DI and the monitor could I
turn the volume up on the monitor and then use the volume pedal to adjust to
appropriate levels for practice and service? I think this is going to be an
even bigger issue in a couple of weeks because we are adding a keyboard player
and I know that she really likes to be LOUD in the monitors (she plays on
Wednesday nights with the youth and pushes the monitors to distortion).

PS The only thing that comes through my powered monitor is the PODxtl. I
tried it for a while with the rest of the mix coming through it, but I didn't
like that so much. I have another monitor with the mix in it that sits next
to the Yamaha.
