I am planning to send out the next issue of the Hope Chest newsletter around June 23, with a topic of "Learn to Discern."  If you have any thoughts you would like to share about this, or any questions about it that you think I should answer, please let me know as soon as possible.  The main features so far are an article called "To Know and Do What is Right and True" and an interview with author Gary Thomas.

On Memorial Day weekend, my daughter Mary was in Louisville, Kentucky at the New Attitude conference.  The speakers were Joshua Harris ("Discernment"), John Piper (2 messages on "Discern What Pleases God"), Al Mohler ("Discern Your Culture"), C.J. While Mary was at New Attitude, I was soaking up the Florida Parent Educators Association convention.  I chose to go to sessions addressing heart issues, such as:
You can visit http://www.fpea.com/Convention/main.htm for workshop CD orders. I came away from the convention with the overwhelming sense that I need to do much better at pouring out grace on my family, serving them in practical ways, and setting a good example of maturity. 
 

I put up a new article (actually a speech outline) on my web site: "Living, Loving & Learning from the Deep Places of the Heart." You can find it here: http://www.VirginiaKnowles.com/LivingLovingLearning. This is actually the outline from a talk that I gave at two home school groups last year.  The topics in this speech included: It's Your Heart, The Wholehearted Marriage, Nurturing Your Child's Heart, and Academic Education for a Deeper Heart.
