What I did to relieve kidney stone pain

In the past, when I got kidney stones, I felt compelled to go jogging. Somehow, I thought this would move them or relieve the pain. In recent experience, I modified this approach to jog-in-place on a hard cement floor (no shoes), and found that the shock/vibration was both distracting and helpful.
Others advise to use a heating pad. I did not find this too helpful - it was only a distraction (from the pain). So I remembered the vibration from a small old air pump I had laying around - it vibrates a LOT, and throws off some heat too. Wrapped in a clean rag (tubes attached to allow free flow of air in & out), I set this on a couch and layed gently against it so the vibration and heat travelled into my kidney area. This was supper helpful ! The vibration definitely helped relieve my pain, and seemed to last for quite a while after I stopped it (could not sleep - the thing is loud, even with ear plugs).
For me, movement is a key pain relief technique. I've found that a morning walk and an evening walk shortly before bed can be so relieving that I need minimal, if any pain meds.
