What If?

Teacher,
they said, “This woman has been caught in the very act of adultery. Now Moses
in the Law commanded us that such [women—offenders] shall be stoned to death.
But what do You say [to do with her—what is Your sentence]?” (John 8:4-5 Amplified
Bible)

What if Noah had never built the ark? What if Moses had
ignored the burning bush? What if David had never faced Goliath? What if Peter
had never left the boat? What if Adam and Eve had never sinned?

Some things can never be taken back. Some, we wouldn’t want
to. Some decisions – both good and bad - change our life forever. The good ones
propel us into pinnacles of joy, with the purpose and strength to run the race
ahead. The bad ones can lock us up in a seemingly bottomless pit of despair and
hopelessness.

However, when they
persisted with their question, He raised Himself up and said, “Let him who is
without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.
” (John 8:7
Amp.)

God never guaranteed that we would not have to face the
consequences of our actions, but He did promise that if we would turn to Him, trust
Him with the situations in our life, and choose to put Him first, that He would
work all things together for our good. (Romans 8:28)

When Jesus raised Himself up, He said
to her, “Woman, where are your accusers? Has no man
condemned you?” She answered, “No one, Lord!” And Jesus
said, “I do not condemn you either. Go on your way and from now on sin no more.”
(John 8:10-11)

If you’re struggling with the aftermath of a bad decision,
know this: forgiveness and healing await you at the foot of the cross. The gift
already has your name on it but you must go there to claim it. Don’t let the
devil’s lies keep you from it.
