The name of the LORD is a strong fortress; the godly run to Him and are safe. Proverbs 18:10 (NLT)Let's look at three more of the names of God.
Jehovah Rophe - The Lord our Healer
Exodus 15:26 (NLT)
If you will listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his sight, obeying his commands and laws, then I will not make you suffer the diseases I sent on the Egyptians; for I am the Lord who heals you.God revealed Himself to Israel as their healer. When God came to earth in the form of His Son, Jesus Christ, He "went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him." (Acts 10:38 NKJV; see also Isaiah 53:5). He is still the same today (Hebrews 13:8); He is our Health, our Healer, our Great Physician!
Jehovah Nissi - The Lord our Banner
Exodus 17:15 (NLT)
Moses built an altar there and called it "The Lord Is My Banner. "He said, "They have dared to raise their fist against the Lord's throne, so now the Lord will be at war with Amalek generation after generation."Joshua and the armies of Israel were at war against a very powerful enemy. High on a nearby hillside, Moses stood with his arms stretched heavenward. As long as his arms were raised, Israel prevailed; when they sank from exhaustion, the Amalekites prevailed. Raised hands are a sign of surrender, and this symbol was a reminder to Israel of their dependence upon God Almighty for the victory. God Himself was their covering, their victory banner in the face of overwhelming odds. He did it for Joshua, He did it for Gideon, and He will do it for you.
Jehovah Jireh - The Lord our Provider
Genesis 22:14 (NIV)
So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, "On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided."Think for a moment about heaven - streets of pure gold, gates of pearl, walls of jasper. Heaven is not a lean-to at the end of the dirt road of life! Your Heavenly Father has more than enough! If you will be diligent to hear and obey His voice, He will command the blessing upon you (see Deuteronomy 28)! God is often nontraditional in His provision (as in 1 Kings 17) and He is usually last minute (as in John 11), but He delights in giving His kingdom to His children (Luke 12:32). He is our source, the sufficiency of all we have need of in this life and beyond.
Precious Father, You are so awesome! Thank You for Your goodness toward me. Because of You, I have so much to be thankful for. You are my health in time of sickness, my banner in the battle, and the provider of even the air I breathe. Thank You, Father! Amen.
