~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The Hope Chest with Virginia KnowlesWhat's New on My Blogs?March 31, 2011~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Dear friends,I think I have just about finalized the next Hope Chest edition - "In the Middle of the Story" - which I intend to send out this weekend. No promises, though! It's a little hard for me to type right now since I fell and broke my left elbow in two places a week ago -- and I am left handed! But I'm getting in a little writing here and there during the times I can take off the removable cast. They were both minor breaks and should heal up in the next couple of weeks. 🙂In the meantime, I decided to send you the links to the blog posts I have written since I sent out the last issue nearly two months ago. All of the posts are listed in reverse chronological order, most recent first.If you have a chance to some of these posts, please drop me a note and let me know what you like best! And if you like what you see on the blogs, feel free to subscribe via e-mail (Virginia's Life only) or Google Reader (all of the blogs) using the buttons on the blogs.Also, I invite you to visit the blog of my daughters Rachel and Joanna, who are in northwestern Italy right now, two months into a three month excursion of teaching English as an outreach. They've had a chance to travel some, too, so expect lots of gorgeous photos. I'm just waiting for pictures from Rome since they hopped a train down there this past weekend! (Mama is so jealous!) See here: www.AbbondanzaDiVita.blogspot.comMy son Micah just simplified his photo blog address to www.GodsAnimals.blogspot.com. We've just finished reading a few books about naturalist/agriculturalist/scientist George Washington Carver since we are studying the post Civil War era, and I'm hoping Micah will post his short report about him on the blog soon. Next week we're moving on to Thomas Edison and Alexander Graham Bell!Here goes on my newer blog posts! If you would rather scroll through the blogs rather than click on individual posts, just click the title of each blog in the large font.Most of the new posts on this blog are in my Weekend Gratitude series, inspired by Ann Voskamp's on-line Gratitude Community. I know most of the Gratitude folks do theirs in a brief list form, often with gorgeous photos. Mine are more story but I still do photos!
In the Poet's Realm (A new poem for those who don't always fit in.)
Weekend Gratitude: Abbreviated But Heartfelt (Even in the midst of pain!)
Weekend Gratitude: Just Beauty ("May your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven..." Even beauty? What is justice without a bit of beauty, too? Plus, photos of the Winter Park Art Festival, my first time there.)
Why is Rob Bell so Alarming? (It's not a diatribe, just a bunch of links to give you food for thought on a current controversy in Christendom.)
Weekend Gratitude: Lake Baldwin Church 5th Anniversary (We've been at this sweet little PCA church over six months -- and we're glad to celebrate their 5th year! What is it that makes this place so special?)
Weekend Gratitude for Synergy and Little Bits Working Together (Authors Carolyn Custis James and Sheryl WuDunn, a call for women to get involved in global justice for women -- plus three video clips.)
- My Grandma's Cracker Cookie Bars (Ann Kroeker got me going on this recipe post with recollections of her grandmother's cookies, while I was in the airport on the way to visit my own Grandma. Chocolate or not? Your choice!)
My Story of Liberty in 1976 (I love to share my own little tale of redemption, which came just in time for the bicentennial of America's independence.)
Weekend Gratitude for Family in Maryland and Longwood Gardens (Like flowers? Andean folks music? Come see and hear! Also, my visit to see my family for my sister's 50th birthday!)
Weekend Gratitude is Getting to Be a Habit! (Bits and pieces, divine coincidences, and moving music at the end.)
Even More Weekend Gratitude (More on beauty and justice -- with outdoor photos by my son Micah.)
Weekend Gratitude: Cairo, Justice & Mercy, and "A Hymn For All the World" (More justice and music! Can you beat the combination?)
The top three posts are from my new series, Friday Favorites, with links to inspiring and practical posts by some of my favorite bloggers. .
"With Literature and Justice for All" Workshop Videos -- from last issue, but not many people have watched the videos yet
Finish Well Home School with High School -- no new posts, but you're welcome to read anyway!Many blessings to you and yours,Virginia Knowles--
