WHEN GOD SIGNS YOUR DEATH WARRANT

1Jo 5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. 17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.

Int. 1Jo 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These verses teach the double assurance of salvation:

5.     THE SIN UNTO DEATH IS NOT LOSING YOUR SALVATION.

I.         THE SIN UNTO DEATH DEFINED:

1.     A specific Sin:

2.     A sin that a brother commits.

3.     A Seeable Sin.

4.     A Serious Sin

a.     Misconceptions about it:

b.    Catholics: Sins that cannot be forgiven in purgatory

c.     State says: It is a crime against society. In which the offender is put to death

5.     Sin unto death was from a deliberate disobedience.

          II. The Sin Unto Death Demonstrated

a.     I Ki. 13 tells of a prophet who prophesied many things against Jeroboam

b.    He saw jeroboam’s hand withered as he he touched the altar.

c.     He prayed for him and he became normal. 1Ki 13:6 And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the LORD thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought the LORD, and the king's hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.

d.    He was told not to eat or drink anything while there.

e.     1Co 5:9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: 10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. 11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to
eat.

f.      1Ki 13:18 He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the LORD, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him.

g.     1Ki 13:24 And when he was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slew him: and his carcase was cast in the way, and the ass stood by it, the lion also stood by the carcase.

h.    God will never violate his word.

      It is a sin that God points out in our lives that we won’t deal with.

                    2. A Desecrators at The Lord’s Table 1Co 11:27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. 30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

a.    Got drunk at the Lord’s table

b.   Vs. 31-34 Did not wait for the others

c.    V. 29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. Note: Unworthily is an adverb: tells HOW, WHEN, WHERE.

2.     A Fornicator

1Co 5:1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.

2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.

3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,

4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,

5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

a.     A man in the church was having an affair w/ his fathers wife.

3.     Achan the thief. Jos 7:1 But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel.

4. v. Jos 7:24 And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of Achor.

25 And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the LORD shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones. 26 And they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day. So the LORD turned from the fierceness of his anger. Wherefore the name of that place was called, The valley of Achor, unto this day.

b.    Garment: compromise his way out

c.     Buy his way out

d.    Old ACHAN WAS A ACHING when God got thru w/ him.

e.     He brought judgment on his whole house.

6.     Despising God’s instruction. Heb. 10:25-30

a.    No sacrifice will avail.

b.   Despising reproof

c.    Forsaking God’s house can bring the sin unto death.

7.     When God shows you a sin in your life: Deal with it. It is a sin that has a personal hold on you.

IV.   Sin Unto Death Declined.

How do I Decline It?

I Jo. 5:16-17 Don’t pray for it.

We put our neighbors sin under a microscope. We magnify his and justify ours.

God is the Landlord of the house we live in.

V. Sin Unto Death Dealt With.

1.     Achan covered his sin.

2.     Nu 32:23 But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.

3.     Achan would not deal w/ his sin and God dealt w/ him.

A. How do I deal W/ MY SIN?

B. Can I keep this one little sin? God says NO!

C. Either get rid of the sin or move out of the apartment of life.

D. Many people die prematurely.

E. The graveyards are full of people of whom God signed their death warrant.
