WHY MEN TURN THEIR BACK ON JESUS
JN 6: 66-69 Joh 6:66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. 67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? 68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. 69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
Int: Ec 8:8 There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death: and there is no discharge in that war; neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it.
Mt 25:35-40 35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in;36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
THE MODERN CHURCH: IS Merely rearranging the furniture on the deck of the Titanic on the eve of her destruction. Men are seeking discharge from the army of God. Christian soldiers are not discharged. They go AWOL. As Christians we were born again on the wrong side of the track.
1. Don't expect any flag waving from the world.Song: Am I a soldier of the cross.
1 Am I a soldier of the Cross—
A follower of the Lamb?
And shall I fear to own His cause,
Or blush to speak His name?In the name, the precious name,
Of Him who died for me,
Through grace I’ll win the promised crown,
Whate’er my cross may be.2 Must I be carried to the skies
On flowery beds of ease,
While others fought to win the prize
And sailed through bloody seas?3 Are there no foes for me to face?
Must I not stem the flood?
Is this vile world a friend to grace,
To help me on to God?4 Since I must fight if I would reign,
Increase my courage, Lord!
I’ll bear the toil, endure the pain,
Supported by Thy Word.NOTE: PAUL & SILAS IN JAIL

Illust: From Atty. David Gibbs:
A man 25 yrs. old. His arms twisted in a spiral.
His legs twisted 180 degrees. He had no diseases. Wasn't born like that. At 18 months old his drunken father came in drunk and broke every bone in his body. He woke up the next day, saw what he had done and panicked. He kept him locked up in a room in isolation for 15 yrs. This cripple man was a member of a church where Dr. Gibbs spoke. This crippled man had won 25 couples to Christ in that church. He was there when the doors were open. It took him 3 hours to get dressed for church. WHEN ASKED ABOUT IT HE SAID I WON'T BE LIKE THIS IN HEAVEN.
Thank God: Some didn't go away. 1Sa 30:24 For who will hearken unto you in this matter? but as his part is that goeth down to the battle, so shall his part be that tarrieth by the stuff: they shall part alike. WE NEED SOME PEOPLE WHO WILL TARRY BY THE STUFF.
