Windows 10 upgrade

I have waited as long as I can to install Windows 10 and now the free
update is about to run out this month. I need to install it on a
Laptop which has Windows 7.

I also need to install the 2007 version of MS on the Laptop (Outlook,
Word, Excel, Publisher, etc). Since these versions are old, I am
wondering if I should install the programs first or should I install
them AFTER I upgrade to Windows 10?

I also need to transfer some data files to the Laptop. I am
networked and concerned that if I do a COPY from one to the other
all of my files may not copy over. What would be the best strategy to do this?
