Women Of the Bible Devotional Book

Posted by: Blc914 <Blc914@...>

I wanted to recommend a neat  devotional book to y'all -- My daughter and I are each reading this book (we have our own so we can mark it up and make notes!)   It is called Women of the Bible - A One-Year Devotional Study of Women in Scripture by Ann Spangler and Jean E. Syswerda.

You read Monday - Friday.... one woman a week.  There is an intro each week that tells you the meaning of her name (if it is known), a bit about her character etc. and gives the Key Scriptures that tell her story.  On Monday is Her Story -- an inspirational portrait of an event in her life -- this is basically the authors rendition of the woman's story and, then on Tuesday you look at her life and times -- like with Eve she talked about Child birth and the fact that there was no midwife for Eve.  On Wednesday you look at her legacy in Scripture -- you read specific scripture and there are questions for pondering.  Then on Thursday you look at Her promise -- Bible promises that apply to her life and to ours. Friday finishes off with Her Legacy of Prayer -- praying in light of her story.

The readings are labeled Monday - Friday but not dated so you can start it at any point and really can read in any order.... even jumping around as you feel led or want.  We have just started, but I have flipped through the book and liked everything I have read so far.

Have you taken a walk in the garden lately?

"Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day." Genesis 3:8a (NIV)
