wood cookstoves

Posted by: empalo <empalo@...>

For us, its just not an option to cook on wood all year round.
When its peach canning time and the gas stove is going non-stop
in my kitchen, the temp often reaches 116. If we were cooking
on wood it would do me in.
When we lived outside of Grants Pass, OR it was not hard to cook just on
wood, we had a back-up electric stove but didn't use it all that often.
Our house had a great beeze all the time.

The stove we have now, is mostly for heating purposes. We do not
have central heat in our house. Its an old "shotgun" house built
at the turn of the century. No heating systems put in this style house
way back when.

There is nothing quite as nice as sitting down to a big kettle full of
soup that simmered on the wood stove all day long, especially when
its cold and snowy outside.

I am wishing for winter already !

Lovingly,
Pat
