Word for Today, Wed, 26 Jul 2000: Colors Point the Way

Posted by: masinick <masinick@...>

Dear friends,

Several of you seem to enjoy reading the Christian Connection
Newsletter, so I will share it with you again this week. Enjoy
the colors around you. Everything you see is a gift from God.

My prayer is that each one of us learn to recognize and
appreciate the work of God, so that His Spirit may dwell within
us, we may enjoy a relationship with Him, bringing joy to our
Creator.

Brother Brian

A RAINBOW OF COLOR

Try to imagine what this world would be like if it was devoid of
color. The rainbow, for example, is an arc containing the colors
of the spectrum in consecutive bands formed in the sky by the
reflection of the sun's rays in falling rain or in a midst.
Biblically, the rainbow (Genesis 9:12-17) is the sign of a
covenant between God and man.

Last week, on our way home from Tennesee to celebrate our
daughter's wedding, we stopped in Virginia to get cold drinks.
While I was in the car, I saw something in the sky that left me
totally in awe. A rainbow. Not just a portion of a rainbow...
not a faded rainbow... but one that went completely
from one end (seemingly coming right out of the ground) to the
other end (seeming going right into the ground). Nope... didn't
see a "pot of gold"! I'd never seen a "full" rainbow before ~
from beginning to end. And, I'd never seen one so close that it
made me feel as though I could walk right up to it. (We took
pictures, still waiting for them to be developed.)

The spectrum is made up of seven colors: red, orange, yellow,
green, blue, indigo and violet. The next time you see the colors
of the rainbow, consider the following:

COLOR REMINDS ME OF... THE BIBLE SAYS... (Please take
the time to look up these veRses.)
Red Scarlet, sin, the blood of Isaiah 1:18; Romans 8:1-2; 5:8-9;

Jesus Ephesians 1:7
Orange Fruit Ephesians 5:18-21; Galatians 5:22
Yellow Sun, gold Psalm 113:3; Psalm 148
Green Life, trees Psalm 92:12-15; Psalm 1
Blue Sky, heaven Psalm 19:1; Revelation 21:1-4
Indigo Missions Acts 1:8; Mark 16:5
Violet Flowers, fragrance Ephesians 5:1-2

God speaks to us through nature but we need to look... and
hear what He's saying. He certainly spoke to me a week ago, as I
was sitting in my car, in some mountain town, gazing at a rainbow
unlike any rainbow I'd ever seen before.

Colors are beautiful ~ they have specific meaning for many
individuals. What are your favorite colors? What colors reflect
you? And, finally, are you radiating the colors of the rainbow
from within?

Joy in Jesus!
