Help!!!

As a guitarist I haven't run into the need to understand anything about MIDI
to this point‹I've simply used analog pedals. But, enter a used Rocktron
Replifex to complete my humble arsenal of effects . . .

Then I realize the need to pick up a MIDI controller. The MidiMate keeps
eluding me, and the guy who loves to sell musical equipment talked me into
the Behringer FCB1010.

OK, I've got it plugged in . . . and it works great for changing from preset
to preset. Is that all that a MIDI controller does, or can I punch in a
preset and edit the parameters on the fly? That is what I was hoping for .
