"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and
unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that
which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto
them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are
clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal
power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they
knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became
vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory
of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to
birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. "Wherefore God also gave
them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour
their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a
lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is
blessed for ever. Amen." (Romans 1:18-25)There is an abundance of Scripture giving glory to God for creating and
sustaining the whole universe. Also, Scripture is just as clear and
plentiful as it refers to the authority, power and judgment of God, the
Creator, over mankind and all other created beings. But, the evil hearts of
men, under the deception and direction of the archenemy of God, the Devil,
have devised all sorts of perversities in rebellion against Him and His
righteousness.A recent commentary by Phyllis Schlafly reveals some startling
happenings on a level that at least begins to rival the rebellion at the
Tower of Babel. I know that many believe the "Babylon" of Revelation to be
the Roman Catholic Church and/or some renewed political empire in Europe
(which would include some if not all of the old Roman Empire -- or maybe
even "The Holy Roman Empire"). I would not necessarily disagree with such
an interpretation. It may in fact fit with what I here express. The Tower of Babel was constructed with a purpose to unite in
contradiction to the worship of the true God with an emphasis upon the
worship of the heavens (worshipping God's creation, but not Him). You see,
the astrology of today is a descendent of Nimrod, the "mighty hunter", and
his compatriots in rebellion. When God "came down" and saw what mankind had
united to do, He prevented the ultimate consummation of such a purpose by
confounding their languages. The time for the whole world to unite in
opposition to God had not yet come. But, I wonder ... could we be near the time when "Babylon the great"
shall have full sway in the world? Could it be that Babylon is on the rise?
Could it be that the United Nations will have some connection with, or even
be quite instrumental in, the end time organized rebellion against God?The UN seems to be a champion of the cause of "Mother Earth". It is
trying to gain more and more power to implement the measures that make the
earth and its resources sacred, while making cheap and expendable the lives
of those who were created in the image of God -- all in the name of "saving
the environment".This reminds me of Moloch and how the heathen and even backslidden and
apostate Jews had "caused their children to pass through the fire" to please
a god, who was not the true God. Abortion is rampant and the US Supreme
Court has slapped down a state law that made illegal the awful murderous
practice of "partial birth abortion".True it is that much of the UN's efforts to rally around the poor abused
earth is a guise to bring down the Western world -- to make it (especially
the USA) ineffective against its aggressors; but the anti-God,
anti-absolutes, anti-Christianity, and etc. of this tendency to unite the
world under one organization, governmental head, political cooperative, or
whatever you want to call it, shows remarkably the spirit of antichrist. It
seems to fit quite well with some prophetic Scriptures that speak of the end
time rebels and how God will respond to them:"Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of
the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the
LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder,
and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall
laugh: the LORD shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them
in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure." (Psalm 2:1-5).I am not trying to paint a bleak picture, I am just trying to shed a
little Biblical light upon the actual political, moral, and spiritual
landscape of our time. Let us face reality and put our hope in God, "for
vain is the help of man". "Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is
that shall tread down our enemies." (Psalm 60:11, 12)Yours In Christ,
