*           The average life expectancy in the US was 47.
*           Only 14% of homes had a bathtub.
*           Only 8% had a telephone. A 3-minute call from Denver to New
York City cost $11.
*           There were 8000 cars and 144 miles of paved roads. Maximum
speed limit was usually 10 mph.
*           Population of Las Vegas, NV was 30.
*           California had only 1.4 million residents, making it #21 in
population. AL, MS. IA, and TN all had more.
*           The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower.
*           The average wage was 22 cents per hour. Most US workers
made
$200-$400 per year.
*           Over 95% of all births were at home.
*           Sugar cost 4 cents a pound, eggs 14 cents a dozen, and
coffee 15 cents a pound.
*           There was no Mother's Day or Father's Day.
*           One in every 10 adults could not read or write. Only 6% had
graduated from high school.
*           Marijuana, heroin, and morphine were all available over the
counter at corner drugstores.
*           There were only about 230 reported murders in entire US.
