A PRAYER REQUEST FROM JACK AT SERMON SEEDS

Posted by: jpeters <jpeters@...>

I am rejoicing and saddened this morning. I am rejoicing because through a chain of events, I had a chance to talk to the girl I asked you to pray for, Ashley.  I am saddened because she made the wrong decision.

Last night was the conclusion of our Missions Conference.  We were saying "farewell" to a retiring missions couple with over 30 years of service on the field after the service.  I had asked everyone to bring cards. My wife, Dottie, forgot our card and had to go home to get it.
She came into the service late.

Because Dottie came in late, she talked to Gary and Sandy, Ashley's parents who were also late.
They told her that Ashley was packing to leave to live with her unsaved boyfriend and mother.
Dottie wondered if she should tell me during the service, but while a missionary was giving a field report, she leaned over and told me.

I felt impressed to talk to Ashley's dad, so I quietly left the service and took him with me.
As Gary was explaining the situation, April, Ashley's sister, showed up.  And we discovered that Ashley had just driven up also. Ashley wanted to talk to April before she left.  That gave me the excellent opportunity of bringing Ashley in and talking to her in April's presence.
To make a long story shorter, although I had a good talk with Ashley, she left to go home, April going with her.

The missionary speaker, John Meyer, used an excellent illustration that led me, with the parents' permission to gather the whole congregation in prayer.  Beloved, there was a tremendous outpouring of support for the family and for Ashley.

Later, during a social we got word that Ashley left home taking everything to live with her boyfriend and Mom. She may get her own apartment.  Gary and Sandy are absolutely devastated.  Gary and Sandy love Ashley but are now heart broken.

Would you join me in thanking God that He didn't let Ashley leave without her being confronted a final time with the truth, and that this tragedy united our church around one of our families?  Would you also join me in asking God to protect Ashley, but to break her stubborn will and to return her in repentance.  Would you also pray for the salvation of her boyfriend, Colby?  Finally, will you pray for Gary and Sandy, the parents, who need a special measure of God's grace?

After writing this message, I have more news.
Ashley is coming home to talk to her parents this afternoon (Monday). Please pray that God will have total rule in this situation.

Thanks for your prayers,
