1. This past weekend, I implemented stricter tests to combat spam reaching
the
mail server (and sometimes, your groups). 7/8ths of all email coming here
is
now spam or viruses, and previous filters were only stopping 20% of it from
getting through. We're now up to almost 50% effective filtering. This
should stop some of the service@paypal.com subscription attempts, for
instance.

Please alert me if your subscribers get their email blocked.

2. I just updated a piece of software that delivers email to you. It
appears
to be working, but the Internet is a big place, and not every software
follows the rules. If it works, here's what I expect to happen:
- reduced rate of probe messages and unsubs
- reduced traffic from retrying message delivery
- reduced mail delivery queues on the server
- less mail delivery retries because of (busy) recipient server deferrals
- improved delivery speed

Pleae alert me if your subscribers suddenly stop getting email.

3. Did you know that AOL blocks email just because it contains links to
Yahoo?
For example, a recent email from the Pastormail group to a domain hosted by
AOL was rejected with this error:
554-: (HVU:B1) postmaster.info.aol.com/errors/554hvub1.html

Upon visiting that page, it says:
There is at least one URL in your email that is generating substantial
complaints from AOL members.

Reviewing the email, these are the only 2 links present:
(I removed the http:// to stop AOL from blocking THIS email)
us.lrd.yahoo.com/_ylc=X3oDMTFmZ2htMTlyBF9TAzMyOTc1MDIEX3MDODYyNzYxNwRwb3MDMQRzZWMDbWFpbARzbGsDZm9vdGVy/SIG=10tesb5j9/**http%3a/travel.yahoo.com/
us.lrd.yahoo.com/_ylc=X3oDMTFmMnFhajhhBF9TAzMyOTc1MDIEX3MDODYyNzYxNwRwb3MDMgRzZWMDbWFpbARzbGsDZm9vdGVy/SIG=12jqk5n45/**http%3a/travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-191500002-destination_guides_vacations-i

So we can conclude that AOL subscribers would prefer NOT to get Yahoo
advertisements and the email that carries them - regardless of the message.

And, BTW, the AOL recipient who won't get this Yahoo email will later see an
email from welovegod.org, saying "Lately, messages to you seem to be
bouncing", and will list the messages they have not received.

Have a great week,

Glen
