{ADMIN} digest options reply

Posted by: gribal1 <gribal1@...>

As much as I like the ChurchBass newsgroup, getting a gazillion email
attachements and then having to open each one is not my idea of fun. I
could put in my 2 cents worth about what I don't like about Microsoft
products, but reading the ChurchBass newsgroup postings is not a compelling
reason to ditch Outlook.

I liked the emailed digests of old that required no effort than to read. I
doubt if I will go out of my way to go to news://welovegod.org/churchbass
to read the digests.

This "new method" of digest delivery will attract the diehard geeks (I am
not that diehard) and will keeps others from even discovering what a great
newsgroup ChurchBass is.

BTW, I am not weeding through any more digests to see how this issue gets
resolved. I believe the best solution will be one that does not require
Outlook patches, etc. in order to read the digests. I apply enough software
patched to my PC as it is (OK, so there is my Microsoft dig :o).

Here are some suggestions from the owner of welovegod.org. Option 2 requires
that I change a configuration option so that anyone, including
non-subscribers can read the archives. I don't really want to do that.
Options 3 & 4 have already been mentioned and seem like the best solutions
unless you want to change software. If you are using Outlook, I recommend
option 1. As an added bonus you and your friends can avoid a lot of the
really nasty viruses out there. 🙂

>Several options:
>1. don't use outlook - use Mozilla for email digests
>2. remove the "Guard Archive" option from your Configuration, then they can

any
>other news reader
>3. switch to single-message mode
>4. read on the web (requires a user ID)
