Facilitating Your Spiritual Break
Out - Part 7 Serving Others

(This is the last devotional in the
series. The first devotional was not numbered for a total of eight.)

But Jesus called them to Himself and said to them, “You know that those
who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great
ones exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you;
but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. And
whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all. For even
the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a
ransom for many.” - Mark 10:42-45 NKJV.

Ed Buchart retired from the marines after 20 years in
1978 and never dreamed of what God had in store for him next. “Santa” Buchart
spends Christmas every year looking just like Santa Claus, but this Santa tells
the children what Christmas is really about. He tells them how that God loved
the world so much that he sent His Son. He tells them how special they are and
how much God loves them.

Ed has spent much of his time after retirement repairing
wheelchairs through his non-profit corporation, Friends of Disabled Adults,
Inc. The ministry grew from a little place in his garage to a 64,500
square-foot warehouse, which is filled with refurbished wheelchairs, and
medical equipment. To begin with, Ed and his wife rebuilt the wheelchairs
themselves, but as people became aware of their ministry and demand increased
they realized that they needed help. FODA now has a few employees many of whom
are disabled. Ed Buchart through FODA has distributed more than $32 million
dollars in refurbished wheelchairs. Buchart says that he never knew how much he
was worth until he gave himself away.

Jesus, our Lord, Savior, and our Example to follow, gave
Himself away as well. Jesus did not come to this earth to be served, but to
serve. We are not saved so that we can be served, but so that we can serve as
did our Lord. However, when we serve it should always point others to Jesus
bringing glory to Him. And, when we serve, the ultimate purpose should be that
others would come to know Jesus as their Savior.

How much are you worth? You are worth so much that God’s
Son came down to this earth from the glories of Heaven suffering and dying so
that you would have a Savior. Even though we are worth so very much, it is not
always comprehended, not always understood by us. However, when we begin to
give ourselves away that is when our true worth is revealed not only to
ourselves, but to others as well. Give yourself away, and break out of life, as
you have known it. Give yourself away, and you too can break out spiritually!

(Ministry Update: In December, I
was officially called as pastor of Rhea Baptist Church of Rhea, Oklahoma <Near
Leedey, OK>. This is a rural church that is virtually dead with only nine of
us worshiping together on Sunday mornings. I believe there is potential for the
church being revived. It is true that there are few people living around the
church, but there are still some living within a few miles of the church that
need to be in a fellowship of believers. Please pray for the revival of this
church. My Aunt passed away last Wednesday and her funeral service was Monday.
I had a wedding Saturday in Oklahoma City. We have learned that my wife’s
cousin, Gwen, who recently moved near us, may have additional health issues.
Please pray for her. Thank you for your support and understanding when the
devotional has been very irregular in my sending it!)

Prayer Requests: Please pray for
an end to the racial hatred in the USA and that it will be replaced with peace
and love. Please pray for Justin Lewis who is battling cancer. He is a young
Christian man with a wife and two children. Unless God intervenes there is little
hope for him. Please also pray for Shane Hall who has cancer and for all those
afflicted with this terrible disease. My sister, Reta, is also in need a prayer
with a serious health issue. Many prayer needs are posted at the Burning Bush
website on the Prayer Request page. You can also post your prayer requests
there (Of course, I am always in need of prayer - please pray for me.).
