His Wonders

He does great things past finding out, yes, wonders without number. - Job
9:10.

Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the
judgments of His mouth. - Psalm 105:5.

I thought it good to declare the signs and wonders that the Most High God
has worked for me. How great are His signs, and how mighty His wonders! His
kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and His dominion is from generation to
generation. - Daniel 4:2-3.

I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must tremble and
fear before the God of Daniel. For He is the living God, and steadfast
forever; His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed, and His
dominion shall endure to the end. He delivers and rescues, and He works
signs and wonders in heaven and on earth, Who has delivered Daniel from the
power of the lions. - Daniel 6:26-27.

This past week I encountered a walking talking miracle in the form of one of
my former clients. SD was at one time an alcoholic, drug addict, and
psychotic. When he shared during an office visit that he was hearing voices
telling him to hurt people I had him committed to a mental institution where
he stayed for many months. I thought he probably meant me, for one, when he
said he was hearing voices telling him to hurt people. After his release,
counselors refused to meet with him, unless I escorted SD waiting outside of
a partly closed door listening for any problems during the sessions. They
had some safety issues after reading his file.

It had been at least twelve years, since I had talked with SD, and so I was
surprised to see him. The amazing thing is that he looked very good and
talked in a very sane manner. SD shared with me that he is now chairing the
AA meetings at the hospital that he has been attending for so many years.
Only through a miracle, the intervention of God in a mighty and dramatic
way, has SD come so far from what he used to be. What a joy it was to see
him in such a transformed condition and to be able to visit with him!

We sometimes have a tendency to write people off as being too hard and
beyond the possibility of change. I know we would never say that to anyone
but isn't that what we think when we encounter a person like SD? To be
honest I thought SD would never be in his right mind and would always be a
very dangerous person. In fact, I was upset when I learned that he had been
released from the mental institution and prior to that I had been upset when
he had been released from prison. I may not have even voiced it as a thought
but in my heart, I thought SD was one of those impossible cases beyond the
reach of God - a hopeless case and a hopeless situation. Obviously, I was
wrong!

Are there people that you have stopped praying for because in your heart you
do not believe they will ever change? Have you given up after a few months
or even a few years of prayer and witnessing? Maybe we need to reconsider
and ask God, whether there is anyone too far gone for Him to change. What do
you think God will say? Will He say that He has grown weak and is no longer
omnipotent (all-powerful)? Of course not! Isaiah makes this clear, "Behold,
the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy,
that it cannot hear (Isaiah 59:1)."

God is still performing wonders, doing marvelous works and
delivering/rescuing the souls of lost men, women, boys, and girls. His hand
has not grown short.
