Kind Hearts

Then the Lord saw
that the wickedness of man was
great in the earth, and that
every intent of the thoughts of his heart
was only evil continually. –
Genesis 6:5 NKJV.

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit
of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be
put away from you, with all malice.
And be kind
to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ
forgave you.
– Ephesians 4:30-32 NKJV.

When six-year-old Zejd Coralic began school
in Sarajevo, Bosnia his teacher, Sanela Ljumanovic, knew that Zejd was deaf.
Sanela immediately noticed that Zejd would sit all by himself, because of his
inability to communicate with his classmates. At first, Sanela tried creating
her own signs to communicate with the boy. Surprisingly, one of the parents of
another child had a much better idea. This parent’s idea was for the whole
class to learn sign language. Because of the parents of children in the class
contributing funds a sign language teacher was employed to teach the children.
Zejd’s classmates all learned sign language in about three months, and are
excited about being able to communicate with Zejd. The idea has now spread so
that many other classes are learning sign language. Zejd’s teacher believes
this experience has made all of her students more sensitive to others with
disabilities. (Skolegijum-onlist for school practice; avaz.ba 02.15.16)

With the situation with Zejd Coralic we see
many kind hearted people demonstrating how “tenderhearted” people can make a
difference. The teacher has a kind heart. The classmates of Zejd have kind
hearts, and the parents of the classmates have kind hearts. This kind of
tenderheartedness seems strange, and is almost shocking in a world where many
are like the people of Noah’s day when
every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”

Do you have a kind heart? Or, do you have wicked heart
thinking evil continually as the people were during the time of Noah? Do you
look for ways to extend kindness? Think of the difference you can make in the
lives of those around you by touching them with kindness. One small act of
kindness may be what someone going through a difficult time needs to make it
through another day. One small act of kindness may be what someone needs to
prevent their doing something terrible. One small act of kindness may be
remembered for years, even generations.

How can you show others your kind heart today? Who has
the Lord placed on your heart that needs a touch from a kind heart?
