Still Powerful

Then Peter said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give
you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk." - Acts 3:6.

And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said
to the spirit, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of
her." And he came out that very hour. - Acts 16:18.

In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along
with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, deliver such a one
to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in
the day of the Lord Jesus. - 1 Corinthians 5:4-5.

An armed robber in Frisco, Texas encountered a force more powerful than his
9mm Glock handgun. What was that force? Marian Chadwick simply pointed her
finger at the would be robber and the robber turned around and left the
store. Actually, the pointing of the finger was not the power that turned
the man around. No, it was the words uttered by Marian, "In the Name of
Jesus, you get out of my store. I bind you by the power of the Holy Spirit."
To Marian and another person that was present at the time the robber
appeared to be "stunned" and he then turned, and walked out of Marian's
crafts boutique, Extravagant Necessities. This same man is believed to have
successfully committed armed robberies in four Dallas suburbs and has not
yet been apprehended.

As people of faith, as Bible believers, we believe that the miracles of the
Bible are literally true. As we know, the miracles were necessary to
authenticate the acts of Jesus and His apostles. However, living in this
world some 2,000 years later we are hesitant to believe that the miracles
that happen around us are actually miracles. We are much more likely to
attribute the miraculous to being a coincidence, or a lucky break. Or, in
the case of someone whose X-rays or MRI has changed suddenly from showing a
malignancy to revealing nothing of significance, we almost automatically
think this was simply a mistake by the Doctor or operator of the equipment.

It is rare for it to actually be reported in the news media an undeniable
act of God, a miracle, as occurred in the boutique shop of Marion Chadwick
last month. I wonder though how many people actually paused to read the
story, or if they were watching the news on television if they even listened
to the words. How many people who heard the story or read the story even
stopped to think that this is a great miracle of God that has occurred?

Even though it has been 2,000 years since Jesus walked upon this earth - God
is still God. Not only is God still God but the Name of Jesus is still
powerful. "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works
that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because
I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the
Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will
do it (John 14:12-14)."
