Heartless

They refuse
to understand, break their promises, are HEARTLESS, and have no mercy. – Romans
1:31 NLT.

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money,
boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal,
despisers of good,
traitors, headstrong, haughty,
lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
having
a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

– 2 Timothy 3:1-5 NKJV.

It happened
in Kuwait City, an Ethiopian maid was
hanging by one finger outside of a seventh-floor apartment and she was
screaming “Hold
on to me! Hold on to me!”
The woman’s employer, instead of trying to
help began filming the screaming woman until the woman fell. The falling woman
fell onto an awning helping her to survive, but she did break an arm. This
incident was reported as an attempted suicide.

In Kuwait,
there are some 600,000 foreign workers which is about one for every Kuwaiti
family. Foreign workers sign away rights when entering the country and they are
treated poorly working long hours, often with poor living conditions and little
food. Many of the foreign workers try to escape, but it is hard to do. Although
the Ethiopian maid’s fall was not an attempted suicide, many foreign workers do
attempt suicide to escape from the harsh conditions.

There
has been at least one report of an employer pushing their maid out of a third
story window after the maid had attempted to escape. It was reported as an
attempted suicide.
As poor as the working conditions are for some in Kuwait
for foreign workers, conditions are worse in other nearby countries. (Standard
Digital 04.02.17; Yahoo 04.05.17; and many other news venues)

Hard to believe that
people can be so heartless treating people worse than they would treat a pet or
even some would treat a slave. It is a travesty, it sickening, it is awful, it
is HEARTLESS! This lack of caring, lack of compassion, lack of mercy, lack of
forgiveness points to there being a heart problem. Jesus says in
Matthew 12:35, “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an
evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.”
There is much evil being brought out of the hearts of
the employers of foreign workers in Kuwait. You could say that they have evil
hearts.

It breaks my heart, and I am sure it breaks your heart to
hear about how horrible some people are being treated. As the apostle Paul
indicates this is one of the conditions that will be present during the “last days.” During the last days perilous times will come.” However, are these times we live in now any more perilous than
during World War II when millions of people were killed? Or, is this time more
perilous than during many other perilous time periods that have been recorded
in history?

Let us pray for the heartless to have their
hearts changed, and that they will turn to God before it is everlastingly too
late. Let us pray for those who are being treated so poorly that they many have
some relief, and that our God will protect and encourage them. Let us pray for
our own hearts that we might not be heartless, and that we will have
compassion, mercy, and extend forgiveness. Let our hearts love, as did God have
love for us. “But God demonstrates His own love toward
us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).”
