The Little Things

Catch us the foxes, the little
foxes that spoil the vines, for our vines have tender grapes. – Song of Solomon 2:15 NKJV.

The Message puts Song of Solomon
2:15
as: Then you must protect me from the
foxes, foxes on the prowl, foxes who would like nothing better than to get into
our flowering garden.

The huge Hadron Collider which was built at a
cost of $4.4 billion recently was shut down. It is thought that it will take
several days to restart the collider which is located near the Swiss and French
borders. The unplanned shutdown was the result of a weasel getting inside of a
transformer and burning it out. Sadly, the weasel did not survive. In 2009, there
was another unplanned shutdown of the collider believed to have been caused by
a bird, although no traces of the bird remained.

Little things can
sometimes cause many problems and much irritation. I like Christian artist
Francesca Battisteli’s song “This is the Stuff.” Francesca lists some of
the little things that drive her crazy: losing her keys, can’t find her phone,
and getting a ticket for speeding just a little. According to Francesca’s song
these thing make her forget at times how much God has blessed her. Have you let
the little things make you forget how much God has blessed you?

It is in Song of Solomon chapter two where, “the little foxes that spoil the vines” is inserted in a
passage where the writer is talking about the perfect love between a man and a
woman. But is he not really talking about the perfect love that God has for His
children; and, how so often little things can interfere with that perfect love
between God and His creation? What little things have you allowed to come
between the love you and God have for each other? Have you forgotten how much
God has blessed you?
