It’s Not in the Ten Commandments

And God spoke all these
words, saying:

“I am the Lord your
God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

“You shall have no other
gods before Me.

“You shall not make for
yourself a carved image…you shall not bow down to them nor serve them.”

“You shall not take the
name of the Lord your God in vain….

“Remember the Sabbath day,
to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh
day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work….

“Honor your father and
your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

“You shall not murder.

“You shall not commit
adultery.

“You shall not steal.

“You shall not bear false
witness against your neighbor.

“You shall not covet your
neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male
servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.” – Exodus 20:1-17
NKJV.

In Jonesboro, Arkansas a man had 134
pounds of marijuana shipped to his house. Officers posed as if they were deliverymen,
and arrested Alberto Gomez-Reyes when he signed for receipt of the package. He
has been charged with possession and intent to distribute. (Yahoo News
05.13.16) It may not be in the Ten Commandments, but don’t do that!

One night Sophia Sanchez was arguing with her boyfriend
in Riverside, Illinois and apparently her boyfriend ended it by refusing to
argue any longer. The next morning, Sophia rammed her car into her boyfriend’s
vehicle so he would have to stop and talk to her. (WLS-TV 04.27.16) It may not
be in the Ten Commandments, but don’t do
that!

Kirk Kelly had violated his probation and was arrested in
Akron, Ohio. However, Kirk had an idea, if he were to bite off his fingertips;
police would not be able to identify him by his fingerprints. He tried, but it
didn’t work as he was still positively identified as Kirk Kelly. (WFTS-TV
02.26.16) It may not be in the Ten Commandments, but don’t do that!

In Portsmouth, England a 21-year-old woman was found by
police to be using her grandmother’s handicap parking badge. Emily Davis’
grandmother had recently passed away. (Metro News 02.26.16) It may not be in
the Ten Commandments, but don’t do that!

In Georgia (USA), 32-year-old David Presley put three
pounds of Tannerite into his riding lawn mower. Tannerite is used to make
exploding targets for shooters. There are videos of Tannerite blowing up a barn
and vehicles. David was going to start small, and blow up his lawn mower,
shooting it with his rifle. The lawn mower did blow up, and even though he was
90 feet from the mower he was still hit by pieces of metal, which severed his
leg below his knee. In Oklahoma a man shot at a refrigerator filled with Tannerite
and his young son was killed by shrapnel. (Athens Banner-Herald 03.23.16) It
may not be in the Ten Commandments, but
don’t do that!

Just because something is not covered by the Ten
Commandments, does not necessarily mean that it is okay to do, or not to do
something. That is one reason why God has given us the Bible. If we will read
the Bible, study the Bible, and memorize the Bible we will gain wisdom to avoid
many mistakes in this life. Yes, I still mess up at times, but the errors of my
way are far fewer now than before I sought wisdom from the Word of God. The Book of Proverbs is a good place to begin, as there
are 31 chapters, one for each day of the month. The Book
of Proverbs
begins with this: To
know wisdom and instruction,
to perceive the words of understanding, to
receive the instruction of wisdom,

justice, judgment, and
equity; to give prudence to the simple,

to the young man knowledge
and discretion—a wise man will
hear and increase learning,

and a man of understanding
will attain wise counsel, to understand a proverb and an enigma,

the words of the wise and
their riddles. The fear of the
Lord is
the beginning of knowledge,

but fools despise wisdom and
instruction (Proverbs 1:2-7 NKJV).”
