Unseen Dangers

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the
shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my
fortress; my God, in Him I will trust." Surely He shall deliver you from the
snare of the fowler (rescue you from every trap - NLT) and from the perilous
pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers and under His wings you
shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not
be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of
the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays
waste at noonday. - Psalm 91:1-6.

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he
trusts in You. - Isaiah 26:3.

In Malipo, China a family was living with an unseen danger for 20 years. The
father of Wang Hexiong accidentally discovered that there was a strong
magnetic attraction below a hallway in their home. The truth of the
situation was revealed after the family told a police officer about the
magnetic attraction in the hallway. A police unit was brought in to dig
under the house to investigate and they found a cache of 38 old rusting
World War II bombs that had been lurking beneath the family all these years.
Even munitions from the US Civil War that have lain around far longer have
proved to be deadly when mishandled.

Every day we pass through a minefield of potential dangers and many of those
dangers are unseen. There are potential hazards to our health from toxic
chemicals and environmental pollution. There are the threats posed by
illnesses from viruses and bacteria. We know about the H1N1 virus, but it is
now suspected that obesity may be caused by a virus. It has also recently
been shown that one cause of high blood pressure may be a common virus. God
only knows what other diseases may be caused by a microscopic virus or
bacteria. We depend upon our vehicles, and even though we try to keep them
in good shape, there may be a defect that could suddenly become evident.
Financially we know now that there were unseen problems that have affected
most of us and have devastated many.

How are we to cope with the potential dangers that we all face in life? We
could become like Howard Hughes and become an urban hermit avoiding all
contact with people. We can try wearing those surgical masks but maybe a big
yellow self-contained environmental hazard suit would be safer to wear for
whenever we leave our homes. Kings of old had their cupbearers to taste
everything they ate and drank to be assured that it had not been poisoned.
Maybe we could hire our own cupbearers? But most of these things are
impractical and far too expensive for most of us. How do we find peace of
mind in this modern world of potential dangers, which surround us?

Our place of safety, our refuge, our fortress is our God. We move forward
with the living of life by placing our minds upon God instead upon the
potential dangers that surround us. He will give us perfect peace when we
trust Him and our minds are stayed upon Him. Live your life under the shadow
of His wings praying for His will to be done in every aspect of your life;
and you will have the strength, and the peace to cope with whatever you may
encounter in life.

with cancer. Many prayer needs are posted at the Burning Bush website on the
Prayer Request page. You can also post your prayer requests there and they
will be forwarded to the Burning Bush Prayer Group (Of course, I am always
in need of prayer - please pray for me.).
