Sheep
Gone Wild

All we like sheep have gone astray; have turned, every one, to
his own way; and the

Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us
all. – Isaiah 53:6 NKJV.

For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us,
leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: “Who committed no sin,
Nor was deceit found in His mouth”; who, when He was reviled, did not revile in
return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who
judges righteously; who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that
we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were
healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the
Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. – 1 Peter 2:21-25 NKJV.

There
is a sheep problem in Swansea, Wales. There is a group of sheep that have gone
wild in Swansea. In fact, one Swansea County
Councilor
fears “we could have an outbreak of psychotic sheep rampaging
through the village.”
The horror! But there is already a herd of
sheep that have been “getting in people’s gardens and one even entered a
bungalow and left a mess in the bedroom.”
What has happened to the
sheep in Swansea? Someone illegally dumped cannabis plants; and some of the
sheep found the plants, and ate them. Now
the sheep are running wild!
(The Independent 05.26.16)

Do you
remember what your life was like before you were a believer in Jesus Christ. It
is hard for me to imagine now what I was like in the years before I knew Jesus.
In my teen years I had no idea what I would do with my life. My only goal was
to be better at playing the guitar. When I enrolled in college, I had never
thought about what my major would be. I’m not even sure I knew there were
majors. I grew up on a farm, and for 12 years attended a small rural school.
Few people from our school ever went to college, although a few became teachers,
and one did become governor of our state. On my senior trip, I believe I
narrowly escaped dying from alcohol poisoning. Until I committed my life to
Jesus, I was a sheep on a rampage through life, with no real purpose in life.

What
about you? Are you a sheep gone wild? Do you know the Shepherd
and Overseer of your soul (1 Peter 2:25)
? I will be forever thankful
that my Lord and Shepherd reached down and touched my heart. He bore my sins in
His own body and by His stripes I have been healed. The Overseer of my soul has
given me eternal life and purpose.
