What’s in Your Basement?

When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with
Him, then He will sit on the throne
of His glory. – Matthew 25:31 NKJV.

He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the
Lord God will give Him the throne
of His father David. – Luke 1:32 NKJV.

No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and
love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You
cannot serve God and mammon. –
Matthew 6:24 NKJV.

Eileen
Scanlon bought a New Jersey waterfront bungalow to use as a rent house in 2010.
Eileen had heard rumors that there was something big underneath the house. In
fact, she once looked under the house in the crawl space, and thought she saw a
large rudder. Eileen is now having the house renovated, and it has been raised
off its foundation to enable the work to take place. Now, it is clear what is
under her rent house. What is it? It is a 19th Century coal boat,
that is 44-foot long and 12-foot wide, made with planks 3-inch thick; 18-inch
long iron nails were used to hold the planks together. Russell Card of
Historical Society of the Highlands said this about the boat, “It was beyond
amazing. I've heard about it before and the first time I ever saw it was
yesterday. I never realized it was so big. I was amazed at the craftsmanship of
it.”
It is thought that the boat was moved there on wheels, and the
house was just built around it. (Fox News 05.27.16)

A lot
of strange things have been found in the basements of homes. In Cottage Grove,
Minnesota a couple found a scientist in their basement that had been missing for 20 years making
LSD in a secret laboratory. Another find in a New Jersey basement was far
better than a 19th Century coal boat. After a couple passed away,
their children discovered a Rembrandt painting that had been lost for years in
the basement called, “An Allegory of The Sense of Smell” that the artist
painted in 1625. The painting sold for $870,000. Then there was the 6-foot
200lb alligator in the basement of house in Chicago. The owner apparently knew
it was there, but not an appliance repairman.

If you
were to think of your life as a house, what’s in your basement? Where do you
have the Lord Jesus at? Is He in your living room, your den, or do you have Him
hidden away down in your basement? If the Lord is down in your basement, maybe
you ought to invite Him up so you can visit with Him from time to time. Is
Jesus on the throne of your life?
