Directionally Challenged

Teach me Your way, O LORD, and lead me in a smooth path.. - Psalm 27:11.

Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established. Do not
turn to the right or the left; remove your foot from evil. - Proverbs
4:26-27.

Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your
heart. Commit your way to the LORD trust also in Him, and He shall bring it
to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your
justice as the noonday. - Psalm 37:4-6.

Max Kirsch had a few drinks and thought that the tunnel he drove into would
take him to downtown area of Bochum, Germany, so he could watch a movie. Max
finally realized that something was wrong when his car ground to a halt
after the suspension system on the vehicle failed. Even though the ride must
have been terribly rough he did not realize that anything was wrong until he
got out of his car and found he had actually driven into a train tunnel.
Because of his taking the wrong road Max now has to have his car repaired
and has pending driving while intoxicated charges. Taking the wrong road
caused some disruption as trains had to be stopped while police and fire
personnel removed the vehicle from the tunnel.

There are some who are directionally challenged and end up going down train
tunnels and going the wrong way on one way streets. Sadly, I have just heard
about another severe accident with several deaths from a driver going the
wrong way. In my only experience with driving in another country, I found
myself going the wrong way on a one way street in Matamoros, Mexico. I
thought that was scary, so we parked our car and found a taxi to take us to
the Matamoros Market. The taxi driver knew where he was going, but I was
rethinking my decision when he turned into the wrong lane to drive through a
red light. I was a little concerned too when he waited for us at a bar to
have a few drinks while we were shopping. Actually, our experience was mild
compared to what one couple on their honeymoon shared about their Matamoros
taxi ride, "If you're a fan of roller coasters, especially ones that become
derailed mid-ride, you'll love a taxi ride in Matamoros. Taxi drivers have a
completely different set of rules for driving than the rest of the
population. Taxi drivers have no speed limit. They also have the right of
way. Everywhere. The roads are very narrow, and if oncoming traffic is in
your lane, the taxi driver may (and does) take to the sidewalk. Taxi drivers
also use one way streets a lot. Since they are taxi drivers, however, they
don't have to go the correct way down the street. This is the primary cause
of the sidewalk driving, I believe. As I climbed shakily out of the taxi, I
assured the driver that no, I would not be needing his services for the trip
back to the border. I would walk."

Many people are a lot like Max and Matamoros taxi drivers; they know where
they want to go, but they keep making the wrong turns to get there. They
want to have a good life but really have no idea about how to successfully
arrive at their goal. There are thousands and thousands of books that have
been written about how to live life but do they have the correct directional
information or are they filled with misinformation? How do you know the map
of life that you have is providing the right directions? It may be that
there are some great books about living life that are out there but how do
you sort them out and find one that really works?

The great thing about the Bible is that you can trust it because the Bible
has a proven track record of thousands of years and it has been used
successfully by millions of people. The directions for life provided within
the pages of the Bible have been proven to actually work in the laboratory
of life. If you want to make your life path easier, smoother, and better
than do this: "Commit your way to the LORD." Study the pages of God's life
map, the Bible, everyday and then "He shall give you the desires of your
heart," and "bring forth your righteousness as the light."

Prayer Requests: Please pray for Malachi, Cody, and Mica who are young boys
with cancer. Malachi is very ill and in much pain. He is paralyzed on one
side because of a tumor pressing on his brain. Many prayer needs are posted
at the Burning Bush website on the Prayer Request page. You can also post
your prayer requests there and they will be forwarded to the Burning Bush
Prayer Group (Of course, I am always in need of prayer - please pray for
me.).

If you are not my friend on facebook or myspace you can be, just add me. The
devotionals are posted in my blogs on those two social networks and you can
leave comments, feedback about them there. There are other social networks
designed just for Christians, however, this is an outreach project to reach
those who may not know the Lord or may have wandered away. You can help me
reach out to them.
