Trouble

Yet man
is born to trouble. - Job 5:7a.

Man who is born of woman is of few days and full of trouble. - Job 14:1.

A
recent letter to a business columnist states:
Recently I messed up a really important project. I’m so
embarrassed in front of my co-workers that I hate going to work.”
 It was signed, “First-time failure.”

I think
the writer has it right when they indicate it is only the first time that they
will fail. I am just surprised that they are only now having their first
failure. In regard to trouble, you are in one of three areas. You have just
gotten out of trouble. You are in trouble right now, or you are headed for
trouble.

Job had
more than his share of trouble. His family was destroyed along with all of his
possessions. From there it became even worse with his physical body being
attacked by disease. Job says in
Job 5:7, “man
is born to trouble.”
 But after going
through even more trauma Job repeats this and adds to his previous statement
in
Job 14:1 where
he says,
“Man who is born of woman is of few days and
full of trouble.”
Man did not just have trouble in life,
but it was
"full of trouble” according to Job.

Even
the apostle Paul had his share of problems
(2 Corinthians 11:23-28). If Paul had problems,
you can be sure that every Christian is going to have problems as well. But the
difference between the child of God and the non-Christian is that God promises
to go with us through the problems of life. The Psalmist says,
“God is our refuge and our strength, a very present help in the time of
trouble (Psalm 46:1).”
Jesus says in John 16:33, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have
peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have
overcome the world.”

Yes, we
will have trouble, problems, trials, and difficulties in this world. However,
we must not focus on them but upon the problem solver. David said in
Psalm 73:16, “I tried to think this problem through, but it was too
difficult for me, until I went into Your temple.”
When the day of trouble comes let us take them to the Lord.
