[ChurchBass] RE: [GEAR] SWR 350x...any users out there?(REPLY)

Daniel, Bruno, and Chetin,

Thanks for your replies! After I met with a guy to book a new project (more on that later...) I came home and tried.

Shutting off the tweeter (didn't work)
Different outlet in the basement (didn't work, but I figured the whole basement is messed, not just my office)

Frustrated, I twiddled the mid frequency controls (level + frequency)...if I cut all the way by -15 and set the mid at 800 hz, then there is a very noticeable difference...

...and then, just for a lark, I switched from the active input to the passive/active input...adjusted the gain accordingly...and wouldn't you know it, no more noise! I just assumed automatically that I'd just get overdrive with that input as I would with the 4004's passive input...but it sounds great in the 350X's!

So, on to trouble shoot mode...is that normal, or is the input faulty? Again, I'm not sure what the output of my neck thru Spector is, but the voltage is 18v, with two EMG DCs and the EMG BTS circuit. My other Spector has the stock EMG HZs and the EMG BTS, 18v as well (considering selling it to finance a new Spector or modding, BTW!)

Thanks again guys!

Drew

P.S. when posting replies, can I suggest that we edit out the "Re:" in the subject line and stick with the tradition of adding [REPLY] at the end of the subject line?

During our second gig this past weekend, I experienced this. My amp is never
noisy, so I checked our power sources with a VOM. I discovered the outlets
were not grounded. When I found and plugged into a properly grounded outlet,
everything was fine.
