[churchbass] Real Bass Content

Posted by: cwstairs <cwstairs@...>

I used to belong to a list of humans who played bass at church, and who
had a forum in which they talked about the issues of being a Christian
Bass player. I've got fore-knowledge that bass content will re-appear
there after adjusting to the changes in format.

Thanks for keeping the list going, and now for some real [but not
necessarily significant] bass content:

Does anyone else have a bass that the very edges of the fret wire can be
felt above the wood, especially on the side of the neck towards your
face? I'm talking maybe only a couple thousandths of an inch, but enough
that it doesn't feel smooth. Am I being unrealistic to want to get one
of those specialized files that takes the end off the frets, and go for
total smoothness? Will I be going beyond the point of diminishing
returns? [I tend to live just past the point of diminishing returns]Will
the frets sink below the edge of the wood with humidity changes? Is that
a problem?

I'm betting this is an old topic, and sage answers are out there in your
minds.

Thanks

Claude
