[CONCERT] Speaking of less than impressive bassists....

I saw the Moody Blues a week ago, but in the melee that was last week, I
didn't have the time or incentive to post my observations. Well, I liked
the band all right (Justin Hayward rocks!), but I was less than
impressed by John Lodge. He had a nice rig, (2) Ampeg SVT II heads,
Ampeg 4x10" and (2) 15" cabinets, Fender deluxe Jazz Bass, and a slew of
rack mount stuff, including a spare SVT II. But, he avoided any
"strenuous " bass work, opting instead to have the keyboardist doing all
of the memorable bass hooks instead. He's also not the singer that
Justin is. But, he did have his obscenely tight leather rock pants on.
MB did do all their hits, though we left before they did their encore,
"Ride My See Saw". Overall, I was glad I saw them, especially since I
got in free.
