Why do any of us get upset or tense when confronted? Why do any of us activate our inner lawyer and rise to our own defense? Why do any of us turn the tables and remind the other person that we are not the only sinner in the room? Why do we argue about the facts or dispute the other person’s interpretation. We do all of these things because we are convinced in our hearts that we are more righteous that how than we are being portrayed in the moment of confrontation. Proud people don’t welcome loving warning, rebuke, confrontation, question, criticism, or accountability, because they don’t feel the need for it. And when they do fail, they are very good at erecting plausible reasons for what they said or did, given the stress of the situation or relationship in which it was done.

Dear Christian Leader,

Focus on the Family is inviting you to an important Love Won Out breakfast
and session this Thursday morning, January 12, at First Evangelical Free
Church in West St. Louis County.

It is to prepare us for the upcoming Love Won Out seminar at the First E
Free Church on Saturday, February 25th.

Participation in Love Won Out will help us minister the love of Christ to
homosexuals and to offer support to those with homosexual family members and
friends. Since homosexuality is such a pressing issue in the culture, all
who attend should be better prepared to biblically face the issue.

Linda Allison of Focus on the Family tells me that THE COMPLEMENTARY
BREAKFAST RESERVATION DATE HAS BEEN EXTENDED. A quick call to Linda's
office at 719 548-5770 should secure you a place at the table.
