Today's Topic: Shooting Yourself
Today's Passage: Colossians 4:6
Today's Quote: It is not what a man does that determines whether his work is sacred or secular; it is why he does it. A.W. Tozer
Several years ago, the newspapers told how a new Navy jet fighter shot itself down. Flying at supersonic speeds, it ran into cannon shells it had fired only seconds before. The Jet was traveling too fast. Do you know that you can do the same thing? You can travel too fast on the road of life, and not even realize that you are missing the things of God.
Ask yourself these questions to determine if you are traveling too fast. Do you have time to worship God in a Bible-believing and teaching church? Do you have time to read the Bible? Do you have time to pray? Do you have time to be kind? Do you have time to tell someone about the Lord? Do you have time to have a ministry to others in the church?
If you are neglecting any of these, you are probably traveling too fast to hear the sound of God's voice. The Apostle John tells the believers in Ephesus, "You have done great things and I commend you. You have worked hard and been patient in spite of your hard work. But I have something against you. You have left your first love." (Revelation 2:4)
Our first love is to the Lord and listening to His voice by reading His Word. When we talk to Him in prayer, we remember just how frail we are and how desperately we need His unfailing strength. If you are traveling too fast, you can't tell if you are doing what God wants you to do. I plead with you to slow down before, like the jet, you shoot yourself down.
God's Blessings and you are special!
