{GEAR} GAS Time... big time (REPLY)

Gas big time? Yep, me too. I had a glass of milk last night. 😉
Seriously though. It is hard to gauge what one needs for performance and other stuff. Going to see Victor Wooten and his brothers last year made light of that. Victor had (using common man's pricing @ Guitar Center or someplace) 3 Fodera basses. Prices ranging from $2900 to easily $6500. 2 Ampeg SVT 4 Pro amps @ $1300 each, 2 1X15" cabs @ $600 each and 2 4X10's @ around $750 each. Which totals up to a lot of cash. His brother Reggie on the other hand was playing an old late 80's Fender Squire Stratocaster, through a $200 Peavey 1X12" amp with a $200.00 rack module on top.
I am a firm beliver in the purchasing of used gear. Especially when one has to make the choice between buying a lesser quality used piece versus a higher quality used piece of gear. Just like car buying in many instances. I mean, if you can afford to purchase something off the rack brand spanking new, then go for it! I will close with this, I would rather buy a used Trace Elliot or SWR combo along with a used Japanese Fender Jazz bass instead of buying a new SWR LA Series and Farnell bass.
