Treat the book as a notepad with printed words. In other words, write in your books. Make the book your own by marking points of agreement and disagreement, highlighting particularly important sections of text, and underlining and diagraming where helpful. Unless your specific copy of the book has some historical or emotional value, mark it up with abandon.

Hello all,

Tomorrow (Sunday) I'm going to be evaluating at a Chen hybrid (plywood
back and sides, solid carved top) upright and would appreciate it if
you'd shoot up a fast prayer for wisdom. I'd have to strech a little
farther than I'd like to purchase it, but if it's as good a bass as I
think it is it will be a very attractive deal. I just want to make a
solid decision.
