{GIG} I Survived Gotham / La Luna

I gigged with the Christian artist I've been working
with John De Maria at a totally hedonistic club in San
Berdo last Sat. Somehow, John was asked to play.

The afternoon was sound check and filming of a segment
of The Learning Channel series, Faking It. This
episode was an ordinary guy wrestles a WWF champ.
There are 3 "ordinaries" and judges have to guess
who's faking it. Nothing fake in wrestling.

The evening kicked off with K1 kick boxing followed by
live music. The first band was a cross between Korn,
Anthrax and I don't know what. Really bad
rap/punk/something with a lot of f'n this and that.
All songs were the same cord, something tuned down
really low. There was another band more trad. rock and
then we came on with a pretty rockin set of John's
tunes. The crowd really liked it to my surprise. Maybe
because John can actually sing? So we play about 3
songs and John says "the next song is . . . oh never
mind, How many of you are Christians?" So, all I can
see are a bunch of hands with the pinkie and first
finger extended except for one raised hand in
recognition of the Lord. There's a bunch of yelling
going and and John says "Well maybe after tonight
there will be more!" We proceeded to play John's set
of spirit filled tunes with more talk from John on
Jesus and did two encores. They didn't want us to
stop. Neither of the other bands did encores. It was
awesome to watch the Holy Spirit work through music.
