Thanks for the welcome Tim and Gene.  I guess it is only fair to ask more about who I am etc.  I have spent a couple of years lurking in the background on the TBL list, but guess I just haven't come up with anything worthwhile to say there.

That was why this venue appeals so much.  I am a person that is very passionate about my music and especially praise and worship music.  It took me a long while to get around picking up the Bass, but I can't see putting it down now that I have started.  At 57, I am not out to "rock" the world, but I do want to do my best for His benefit.

Our Church is what I would describe as aged.  Demographically about average age of 65+.  Very few young people (trying to do something about that tho)
Our music is somewhat traditional, but I have been bringing song after song off the net that I can find to try and "blend" the sound more.  I realize all contemporary will not be ideal in this church, but I am hoping that there is enough that will interest the younger ones too.

Lately I have picked up on the following songs that I have made my business to promote they are :

He Reigns                  Newsboys         Adoration
You are my King         Newsboys         Adoration
It is You                     Newsboys         Adoration
O Praise Him              David Crowder Band        Illuminate
What the Lord has done in Me       Hillsongs

I try to listen to that voice that prompts me in certain directions and rarely has it been wrong. (usually when I butt in).  Such was the case with the time I introduced "Come now is the time to worship" to my worship leader.  There wasn't much interest at first, but like any annointed song, it is now one that is in permanent rotation.

A few years ago I went to Spokane to a worship seminar put on by Vineyard and got to meet with some very annointed singer/songwriters.  Terry Butler, Casey Corum and Cindt Rethmeier to name a few.  It was one of those eye popping experiences and well worth the weekend in a rather grungy motel.  The major lesson I came away with is that I am only singing/playing for an audience of one.   My perspective was changed to "leading" people into the presence of God through worship and how awesome of a responsibility it was.  I also went a year or two later to a Maranatha seminar in Salem Oregon that was great.

Isn't it amazing the power there is in the voices of those that are committed to worship leading, when they all sing as one?  At any seminar or workshop I have been to, I have experienced a sense of His presence that sometimes is stupifying.

Well I think I need to make me and the cats some supper.

All of you have a really great week ahead and may Our Lord take a liking to ya.
