[Music] Catching up, gigs, Warrior Atl gallery...

Whew........What a week and weekend!  Well, I celebrated my 40th birthday on this past Saturday. I had a chance to share during a Saturday worship gig that I play for on occasion. I spoke briefly about the purpose that God has given me to be one of His musical servants. I used the lyrics of "Audience Of One" by Big Daddy Weave as an example of my feelings. Worked out perfectly because the song that I needed to set up was "Heart of Worship" by Matt Redman.

Been doing some stuff with some incredible musicians of late. I got to play with this drummer named, Gerald a few days ago. Mad skills but he knows how to keep time and keep the groove in the pocket very nicely!  I will also be working with a sax player named, Michael Stephens this coming Friday evening. We will be worship performing some of the songs from sax player, Kirk Whalem's (spelling)  "Gospel According to Jazz 2" disc and DVD.  We are doing "Wade in the Water", "Do Not Pass Me By", and the incredible, "Falling In Love With Jesus". We are also doing the  Grover Washington, Jr. version of Stevie Wonder's "I Can't Help It", the Grover version was recorded in 1980 (Marcus Miller played bass on the album). The song was made popular by Quincy Jones w/ Michael Jackson on Jackson's "Off The Wall" album. Oh yeah, also doing "Pastel" by Kenny G, along with some other music.

Needed to get a quick amp fix before some other stuff happened. I traded some stuff and ended up with an old (and fairly beat up) Trace Elliot 7210H combo amp. It's got all of the important stuff - Uhhh, like being a Trace Elliot for one. 2X10's with a tweeter, 7 band graphic, mid shape functions, Balanced DI output, effects loop and the important extension speaker output. This will come in handy when I can afford an AccuGroove tri 10 or tri 12.  Drawbacks? This joint is HEAVY!!  Must be about 80lbs, but it sounds so sweet!

What else? Oh yeah, found out that the Warrior Atlanta Gallery will be closing its doors on December 31st 2003. Please pray for the owner, Ty Chapman. I know it was unexpected for me to hear. They will still be having their annual Christmas Party at Smith's Old Bar, which is next door to the Gallery on the 11th of December. I will be performing (in whole or in part) with Sacred Groove or just me and Groove's former drummer, Charles Marvray (the drummer on the W3BO disc). Should be fun. Interesting how this turns out. Sacred Groove also performed at the Gallery opening a few years ago.

Alright, I gotta get some sleep now - I had a rehearsal this afternoon with Mike Stephens, so I did not get my mid-day nap in as I would have prefered.
