I talked with the contractor who wants to hire me for his
technical/supervisory stuff. He is a hard charging sort of person, and this
seems to show in how his words come out so fas, and not always completely
organized. He was showing me his pile of pending contracts and bids and
current work orders. My jaw hit the floor when he looked at me and
preclaimed, "I have all this to organize, plus make certain my labor force
is properly trained and supervised in the field. I have to be in the office
to run the business, and the business is growing so fast. I'm never home
anymore and now my wife says she wants to try to have a baby. I need your
help, since you have so much experience." It was 15 minutes before he
realized what he had said. We had a good laugh over it and I still chuckle
when I think about it.
I have accepted the job but he's on his own in certain departments.
