[PRAYER] Need some now

Posted by: mbutts <mbutts@...>

This has been one of the crappiest days ever. In a meeting today of our
small company, our owner/ boss announced that we have run out of funding. He
has enough himself to keep us afloat until Jan 31st, but unless our small
3.5 person company starts making some better money soon, he will have to
pull the plug then. As the marketing guy, it is my responsibility to figure
out how to do this in about 6 weeks. I have some good irons in the fire, but
have never been given a marketing/ advertising budget, so to make it work,
I'll have to rely on good old fashioned leg work and phone calls. Pray that
I can save these jobs, as well as my own.

On top of this, I'm sitting at home waiting for the plumber to unclog my
sewer line, which was done 7 months ago. If, as I suspect, I need to replace
the old line, that will wipe out nearly everything we've saved up this year
after two huge expenses wiped out our reserves last December. For obvious
reasons, this is not a good time.

The third thing is that as of yesterday we have a new foster daughter; 16
year old Yesenia, or J as she prefers to be called. The background of this
poor girl is just heartbreaking. Her mom is illegal, and about every family
member has turned their back on her after she called authorities when her
little sister over dosed on cough syrup. J did the smart thing as a 13 year
old in calling 911, but her mother blamed her for calling authorities that
got her in trouble with California DHS. To get away from the trouble, I
assume, the three of them moved to Oklahoma to live with grandma. When mom
moved to her own place, she told J she was a traitor and said she couldn't
come. J lived with grandma until 3 months ago, when uncle comes by, tells
her that at 16, she is old enough to make it on her own, and kicks her out.
She then moved in with a friend, but caused tension with the friend by being
*too* good. The parents were always telling their daughter "Why can't you be
more like J?" After 3 months of this, friend tells J she has to get out; the
day before Thanksgiving.

Fortunately, she called a lady she had baby sat for, and the lady called my
friend at Deaconess Home, which typically does adoptions and unwed mother
care. This friend, knowing we had the 14 year old last year, asked if we
could foster J. so Deaconess could try adopting her out, which would happen
much more quickly if J didn't have to enter the system. The mother signed
parental termination papers and will hopefully show up to court tomorrow, so
please pray for that.

If she does, it could only be a month or two before J can be adopted. In the
5 days I've known her, J is a great kid. She is in a magnet college prep
high school, plays soccer, is a cheerleader, and has a wonderful
disposition. Obviously, she has abandonment issues, and worries that we will
be getting rid of her. Please pray that some family will be able to adopt
her.

UPDATE: Plumber just came in and gave me an estimate of $5100 to replace the
sewer line because of the fences he would have to go through. That does not
include a huge tree that may have to be removed. That is more than DOUBLE
what I thought it would be. I have a second estimate on the way, and have no
idea how I can afford it.

Thanks in advance for all the prayers.
